On April 14 a scientific and practical forum “Autism. Situation, realities and prospects in Kazakhstan” was held in the Kazakh National Medical University (KazNMU) named after S.D. Asfendiyarov.
Speakers included: Saduakasova Korlan Zarlykovna, PhD in medical sciences, professor of the Department of Psychiatry and Narcology in KazNMU named after S.D. Asfendiyarov, the chief non-staff children's psychiatrist at the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Chee Kai Chan, PhD in medical sciences, Nazarbayev University; Almaz Sharman, professor of medicine, chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Charitable Foundation of Bulat Utemuratov “Asyl Miras”. Topics covered included: the history of autism, the impact of nutrition on human genetics, the support of children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD), and others.
On this day, scientists, state authorities, civil society organizations and foundations, international and local experts shared their experience on work with children with ASD, methods and results of various intervention approaches in the early and later stages of ASD development. As an outcome of the forum a resolution was developed with a number of proposals for the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education and children's health organizations.
The forum was organized by the Department of Internal Diseases of the Kazakh National Medical University (KazNMU) named after S.D. Asfendiyarov and the Private Charitable Foundation (PCF) of Bulat Utemuratov “Asyl Miras”. We express our gratitude to the team of KazNMU and especially to Corlan Zarlykovna Saduakasova.
